You Aren't Getting Any Younger....

Are you struggling with this season of your life? Do you hear a voice in your head saying, "you're too old to do ______?" Have you perhaps let go of your fitness or get completely winded when you "have" to take the stairs? Do thoughts of aging bring you down? or Are your dreams and desires of the life you wanted fading off in the sunset or rather the oblivion and seem like impossible wishes?

You aren’t alone. It happens.

One day you are making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for your kids to take to school, and the next thing you know 15 or 20 years have passed and your kids are grown making PB&J for their kids...

Somehow we get lost in the day to day and neglect our personal needs and desires because we are constantly focused on our family.  We give and give and give to those around us – not realizing that we are depleting our own resources.

And then one morning you wake up and think, where did my life go?

You look in the mirror and notice wrinkles that you swear were never there before, noticeable strands of gray running through your main,  and then you realize you’ve had that hairstyle since the late 90s.

You can’t remember the last time you did any form of exercise, had a girls' night out, or indulged in some sort of activity that was all about YOU. You wonder, when did all of this happen? Or rather when exactly did it stop happening?

Does any of that sound familiar? Unfortunately, it is true for far too many fifty-somethings... but the truth is, that's life, and it can go by in a blink.

Hey, I'm not pointing fingers.  I get it. It happened to me too. But it doesn’t have to stay that way.  You can make a change.

It’s a choice.

The first step is realizing that it isn’t too late and that you are NOT too old to make lasting changes that can positively affect your now and your future.  There is still time for you to be, do or have anything you truly want in this lifetime.

It's up to you.

Here’s the thing, time will continue to tick.  You cannot stop it, nor can you turn it back, but what you can do is take the time bull by the horns and make a change today.

I have noticed in myself and others when there is a desire to achieve big goals, certain behaviors that are consistent and effective. Personally, I do best with a thought download (aka as a brain dump - just sounds better to me), some prioritizing, a plan of attack and then most importantly action.  You can do the same, start with the one thing that will make the biggest difference for you right now and focus on it like never before.:

  1. Do your thought download to figure out what that one thing is.  Jot down everything you could possibly want to put in your bucket list and then prioritize them based on which one pulls your heartstrings the most. Remember there are no rules.  You can put learn to paint, speak a new language, change careers, start an online business, lose weight, get in shape, skydive, it doesn't matter.  it really is whatever floats YOUR boat.
  2. Once you have your top desire or goal. Do another thought download on everything that would need to happen to make that goal a reality. Every single detail.
  3. Now break those items down into small doable bites of 20 or so minutes each and prioritize them.
  4. Schedule each of those action steps on your planner and commit to doing them regardless if you feel like it at the time.

Write it out, plan it out, hire a coach or meditate on it I don’t care, just make sure that every damn day you are doing something to make it happen.

I've said it before, this ain't no dress rehearsal.  You have only but one life to live. Make it count.

Love, Laugh and most of all Learn to Live Boldly.
